Today I am off to visit lovely lovely Hannah R-B and Teddy her new little babba. To mark his imminent arrival I made these bunny slippers and gave them to her at her baby shower a few weeks ago.
The basic slipper shape is the one from my Felt Sew Good book and I adapted it by cutting a heart shape in white felt for the face (embroider the eyes and nose on the white heart first. Then sew it to the grey slipper upper and then sew the upper to the sole.). I cut one pink and two grey ear shapes for each ear and attached them to the slippers by making a small hole in the slipper to poke the ear through and then sewn in place. This makes the ears stick up. The tail was a rectangle of felt folded in half lengthways then snipped down across the folded spine (stopping before the bottom). Roll the felt rectangle up to form a kinda pom pom and sew in place.
They were quite hard to part with but I’m sure Baby R-B will appreciate them as much as his mummy did. I’m thinking it may take a few weeks before he fits into them though!
