Finland does good graphics, great fabric and weird sweets (mostly liquorice or peppermint, often together, always in stylish packaging).
The town we visited was called Oulu. Friendly, quiet and famous for hosting The World Air Guitar Championships… AWESOME! If you don’t believe me look here.
The fabric in the top right of the picture is from marimekko and bottom left are some coasters I picked up for ‘my-new-house-that-doesn’t-actually-exist-yet’ from the Moomin Store in the uber-cool Helsinki Airport. For all things Moomin go here now!
I love paper. I love the way it is super versatile and you can make it do pretty much anything you think of. I once made it do this for a photoshoot. If you want to make something similar you can watch an instructional video I did for HobbyCraft a little while ago, it shows you how to make these giant flowers.
Anyway I digress… The other day I stumbled across the beautiful website of Paper+Cup Design. After having a good look round I found they had just released a book full of their quirky and cute designs. I received mine in the post this morning and though the projects are quite simple they all have the delightful design aesthetic that I love.
If you are new to crafting, want to make something with your children or just want another book to coo over and be inspired by then get yours here.
Another thing of beauty I found the other day in a junk shop in Chiswick. My excuse? One day I’m sure I will need them for a photoshoot.
This week I am working at Vogue House; very nice, very swishy with possibly the largest Jo Malone candle ever in the reception (anywhere else I work this would have the sprinkler systems going off and fire marshals donning their high-vis jackets in no time). At lunch Marc Jacobs sent his lovely ones round to hand out fresh flowers from flower painted mini van and trailer combos. A much needed blast of spring.
No free perfume though.
Soon it will be Fashion Week, will Marc be able to top this?
